I am fortunate. I have a job that affords me a lot of free time. There are times of the year that I can take time off and not even call it vacation. I like my job for the most part.
But….
There are times of the year when I work 70-80 hour weeks and I have to be away from home Monday morning through Friday evening. This leaves my lovely bride, and the mother of our children, to do EVERYTHING at home.
and…
I don’t get to see them or hang out with them for a whole week.
For the last 2 months, my job has kept me away. I come home Friday night around 8PM and leave Monday morning around 7AM.
well….
This is hopefully the last week I will have to do this. Seriously, it’s about time. No, I’m not quitting. The busy season is just over. Finally.

I think this is common for most of us working folks. We all go through busy periods at various times of the year. I feel your pain.
I’m just thankful to have a job, because there are many people that don’t.
Just think of the enjoyment that early retirement will bring!
Sounds like you are a tax related accountant. Regardless, I hate being separated from my kids and house for work.
