In French, this translates to Devil in a boot or Boot with a devil. What am I talking about? The history of this cute (I say creepy) little toy
:
I hate these. First of all clowns freak me the f*ck out. I have never liked clowns. I have always thought clowns where creepy and devilish. Now I have my proof. Let me take you back. It is the 1200’s and we are in North Marston, Buckinghamshire. Sir John Schorne, the prelate of this fine county, has sought to protect his village and district by casting out the Devil in a boot. Why a boot, because they didn’t have a box. You may find some historical paintings showing this scene and you may even find in American Folklore, people throwing boots into trees to cast out the devil. Well, Sir John did just that. The French picked up on this traditional and called it diable en boîte. We call it Jack in the box. You may havehad a quick meal there.
Anyway, I know it’s Saint Patricks Day and I should be talking about something green or Irish, but this morning Reese brought her little Jack in the Box toy into our bedroom and woke us up my cranking the little toy until we woke. If that’s not a devilish thing to do, then I don’t know what is. So Happy Saint Patricks Day. I off to throw hide those devilish little toys.

Happy St Patrick’s Day!
Great choice on the Middleton whiskey by the way, expensive taste.
Enjoy

LOL, I used to have a Jack in the Box and it would scare me everytime I’d crank the handle and he’d pop out, even though I knew he was going to pop out, it would still scare me,lol (I guess I’m a slow learner)
I do miss Jack in the Box food though. The closest is about an hour and a half away, in SC. Speaking of, why did Jack get rid of the secret sauce? That’s what sets Jack in the Box apart for the other burger joints. Now you have to ask for it, and they give it to you in a packet, how stupid!

Diable en boite translates as Devil in a box not boot. Jack in a box where Jack is the knave or the devil.
