Ah, the chocolate advent calendar. A tradition in our house, that is until Grandpa dropped the ball last year and stopped sending them, ugh. It is difficult to explain to toddlers, preschoolers, etc...that they can only have 1 chocolate a night. Many a advent calendar have been violated in our home on Christmas' past.
Tanya~mom to crazy 5 year old boy twins, and a couple of older kids too :)

Precisely why we have a non-chocolate advent calendar my friend... otherwise we would have 2 five year olds hopped-up on chocolate before they even get to school...

LOL. I grew up with advent calendars as well (I'm a triple threat - born in Germany, raised Catholic and had calendars with candy). I've struggled to find one this year for my boys.

Hey...thirteen and four-year-olds don't give a shit about advent either. Interesting. They give quite an enthusiastic shit about chocolate though.

I'm getting an idea for a new religion.

Shhh! Don't tell the Norwegians. They think THEY invented the Advent calendar. Or ... maybe that's why they put all kinds of other crap on there besides chocolate ... an inferiority complex or something. Ah well. We're done with the "small gifts." My kids don't do chocolate, as in regular, normal chocolate. (I know. I don't know where that came from.) So they're getting M&Ms every day. I'm planning for the sugar crash to last from Christmas Day until New Year's ... so I can finally get some sleep.

It'd be pretty funny if you could figure out a way to replace the chocolate in an upcoming day with something like a green been.
