Random thoughts from a random mind…

I was just thinking about our family trip to Germany and went back to look at some of the photos we took. When I say we, I mean my wife. I realize, upon reflection, that she is the one always taking the pictures. She is only in about 1 in 50 pictures. Most of the pictures are, understandably, of the farty pants twins. When I discussed this fact with my wife she said it’s fine.

I know it’s not fine. She needs to be documented as much as the rest of us. She is a part of our lives. When I told her this, she specifically told me not to publish ANY pictures of her on “That blog of yours”. My wife is not a reader of my blog.

Does your spouse read your blog if you have one? While I am supported by my wife in my writing endeavors, she is not a follower. She tells me that she doesn’t need to read about what she lives day to day. I have to agree. But I remind her that my blog is just like pictures, only with words. A reminder of little moments in time. Snippets of our lives.

Oh, and while I write this entry, I am listening to Wire Train. (I told you this was random). Does anyone remember Wire Train? A great San Francisco band. Becky, if you are reading this, I am offering another hint into my “band” past here. Follow the drummer of Wire Train and you may find out a little bit more about my musical past. No more hints. (A note to my friends, do not leave comments that mention anything about mine/our musical past.)

web.jpgLastly, here is a picture of me and the girls in Germany in October. The girls were eating German hot dogs and carrying around little bags a nice lady gave them in one of the shops we visited. Me, I’m just wearing my “Old Man” Irish fishing cap. Damn that thing keeps your head warm.

Oh, Happy Thanksgiving if we don’t speak before next Thursday. Safe travels wherever you go and enjoy your time with your loved ones.

  1. I’m usually behind the camera myself. But I’m ok with that. I don’t photograph well. Plus my camera is still new and I’m very protective of it. :)

Lee reads my blog every night. But I can’t get him to comment or write his own posts. Which is too bad because he’s hilarious.

  2. Oh, great. Another assignment that I can’t resist. You know I’ll be all over it. I WILL unravel the mystery.

  3. We have a similar situation at our house. I tend to take most of the photos.

My husband does read my blog, but he doesn’t comment. I like that he reads it because I think it helps him “get” my perspective sometimes.

  4. Funny that you should bring this up. My husband and I got into a semi-argument the other day, and I told him that I feel as though he doesn’t support my writing. It stemmed from a comment he made about when “Bridget is in school and you are able to get a real job.” I took offense and questioned what he thinks this monthly paycheck of mine is, exactly, and why I am working so hard to get published in print.

Rambling aside, my husband doesn’t read my blog. It’s like my second life. I recently had a writing coach write a VERY nice passage on her blog about my writing. When I read my post that she had quoted to my husband, he got tears in his eyes (it was about our son). I wish he would read my blog, and I have told him so.

I’m never in the pictures either. I got so sick of taking pictures, I told my husband it was his responsibility. Now we don’t have many current pictures of anyone!

  5. I’m always the one in front of the camera because my picture taking skills are…well, less than ideal. As for my other half reading my blog, honestly i’m not too sure if he reads my personal blog but more than likely he does not for the exact same reason as your wifes.
