Stomp your feet, Clap your hands…

If you are not familiar with Sandra Boynton’s children’s books, then you may remember her greeting cards. Either way, she is funny. So funny, in fact, I wish she would go away. No really. My kids are addicted to her books.
Every night before the Farty Pants Twins go to bed, they want us to read “Barnyard Dance”. We think a little bedtime story is great before the girls go to bed. It let’s them relax a little and gets them in the mood for a little night night. Unfortunately, “Barnyard Dance” does the opposite. They have to “DO” the dance as I read it to them. It doesn’t help that my wife also wants to “DO” the dance with them as well.
So there we are in one of the kids rooms. Me reading the book and my wife and kids dancing to it. By the time we are done everyone is worked up and bedtime becomes a fight.
Needless to osay, I need to get them off “Barnyard Dance” and on to something else. Sandra Boynton has several good books, and we own many of them. It is just that my kids aren’t buying it. They know what they like and there is nothing I can do to get them to try another book. That is unless it is “Goodnight Gorilla”. Then I know we will have a peaceful bedtime.
Oh well. Such is the life of a parent of twins and a husband to a women who likes to dance with her girls.

We like Pajama Time or something like that…I can’t remember the exact title but it ends by getting very soft.

We love Sandra Boynton in our twin household too. We have the cd book collections Philadelphia Chickens, Dog Train and Rhinoceros Tap. We practically know all the songs by hear. The Barnyard Dance song is also a favorite that gets us dancing and it even ended up in our latest video of the girls.

That is funny. We don’t have the Barnyard Dance, but I do have another book that is active like that that my twin girls LOVE. We actually tend to read Dinosaur’s Binket; it’s a great Boynton bedtime tale.
