This ia about probably the only center in the world where leukemia is cured with out side effects. If it is not too late to go through, may be helpful very much.

I was diagnosed with myelodysplasia 6 years ago, transformed to AML 7/01, went through double induction chemotherapy at MD Anderson in Houston, then had an allogeneic stem cell transplant at Sloan Kettering 4/02. I have been in complete remission since. I hope your father is doing well and has an equally good outcome.- Bruce

Thinking good thoughts for your dad.

I also have another piece of news for you....You have been tagged. The rules: Start with 7 random facts/habits about yourself. People who are tagged have to write their 7 things on their blog. Then choose another 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment to tell them they have been tagged and to read your blog ...

I came across your site via Google. I have refractory AML -- was diagnosed 7/06 at the age of 25. So far I've been through several rounds of chemo and a stem cell transplant -- no remission yet. I'm currently undergoing experimental treatment using Decitabine. It's an "easier" chemo and seems to be a good option for older people. Insurance may not cover it, though, and it's about $20K/mo. It is being used in some clinical trials which often have funding available to help the patient. The fact that he's had a form of MDS first impacts treatment. You're best to make sure you're with a doctor/hospital experienced in treating AML.
