Sometimes they can just break your heart.

I am fortunate that I can work from home. But in my profession, business travel is a fact of life and lately I have had to go to the corporate headquarters to my office there to work. The office is about 160 miles from my home so I stay over night from either Tuesday or Wednesday until Friday. I’m usually home on Friday around 3 or 4 pm.
The reason I mention this is because I have found that working at home has it’s benefits when it comes to your children. They expect you to be “In your office” and available when they want to pop in for a quick visit. My kids love to open the door, say hi, come in for a quick hug and then leave again. I love when they do this. But Reese has decided that she doesn’t really like it when I leave for my trips. She has decided she wants to go to. Here is the proof.

What is a Dad to do?

Aw, that is so sweet. I often work from home too so I know what you mean about the quick “hi.” My kids come in to show me what they did at school as soon as they get home, before they get their afternoon snack. I love it. I rarely travel for my job, usually it’s just a day or two in Chicago. A couple times I was supposed to go to California to meet with my sales teams but it always seems to get canceled for one reason or another [and secretly I'm ok with that ;)].
I “work” from home, too. I’m waiting for the day when I can go back to the office full time just so I can say, I’m returning to work so I can spend less time with my family.
Well that is world’s better than what our cat used to do when my mom travelled. He’d pee in her suitcase. My mother would always begin packing her suitcase, forget the cat was in the room and turn her back to get more stuff and “Whammo!”
Every time my mother came to visit me during the 4 years I was in college, she always had a brand new suitcase.
She’s got good problem-solving skills. Now she needs to work on the element of surprise.
Oh I love that.
How adorable!
