Is it just me or what?

Warning, this post has some anger in it. If you want fluffy fun stuff about twins then look elsewhere.

What the fu…?

I have just about had it with the people who drive around town and on our nations highways as if they were the privileged few who own the road. Are we handing out driver licenses in Cracker Jack boxes nowadays? When I got my license I actually had to take a written test and a road test. Has the Department of Motor vehicles just thrown in the towel and decided that if you have a pulse you get a license. No eye exams, no nothing. Just line up, sign here and join all of the other idiots on the road who don’t know how to drive.

I am not a professional driver. By that, I mean, I do not get paid to drive. I consider myself a very good driver and I guess my insurance company does as well. I live in California and my premiums are not very high. So I complain with the knowledge that I am one of the few out there who do not have any accidents and tickets on my record. (Okay, the deer incident doesn’t count. Leave me alone.) So what is up with these people that just plainly do not know how to drive? I am not going to bring race into this, though some might think it is appropriate, I think bad driving crosses all races and genders.

Let me illustrate what I mean… Driving to a stop light there are three lanes. The far left lane is the left turn lane, and the middle and the right lane are for going straight. I come to a stop light and I have a person in front of me, ahead of me at the light. The light turns green and this person does nothing. Does not proceed, does not move when honked at and does not even acknowledge that this person is even being honked at. Everyone is proceeding through the light in the lane to the right of me and I am thinking I will jump out into the lane on my right at the first chance. Not going to happen. Too many cars coming. At this point, the blood is boiling and if I had gone with the optional “car in front of you exploder button” installed as my  wife had suggested, I would be out of this mess. But, I am stuck with a person who won’t move.

At this point I think, “Okay, this person is having car problems. I’ll get out and help” So I get out of my car, as all of the people behind me are now honking as well, and go to the car in front of me to see what the problem might be. At this point, I walk up to the window of the driver in front of me and politely tap on the window. The person in the car is startled and rolls down the window. I quickly figure out that English is NOT the first language of this person and after a couple of attempts I get this person to admit that the car is fine and that there is no problem. At this point I say” Um, yeah, there is a problem, you are not going through the light when it turned green.” And the response….. (you’ll love this) “I sorry, I want to turn reft. I missed turn rane. I wait until all cars in reft rane go and I forrow. You wait until I do this”

“What” I say. No, you go and turn around up there and stop holding all of us up. “No, I turn reft.” This person says. And with that, the light changes in the left turn lane and this person jumps out and almost collides with all of the cars in the left turn lane who are legally trying to turn left and almost runs over my foot in the process.

As I make my way back to the car, people start honking at me. Apparently the light has changed green and I am now holding everyone up. I quickly jump in my car and speed through the light before it turns red and make my escape out of this hell.

So, the lesson learned is that next time you buy a car, make sure you get the ‘Car in front of you exploder” option installed. It will save you a lot of headaches.

“What’s that honey? No I’m writing a post about the car incident. You know the car exploder option we should have installed? What do you mean it’s make believe? Your kidding right? Hun?”
