Given that I have been to NO during Mardi Gras and watched as obviously phoney camera crews travelled up and down Bourbon Street claiming to be from Girls Gone Wild getting women to flash them, I know it takes nothing at all to convince anyone in that area you are “famous”. The booze to person ratio is to blame, not that I believe Southerners are dumb.

But c’mon, if you see a guy with a movie camera that is bigger than his head and the microphone is hooked to the camera by a gianormous cable, what really would make you think the crew was legit?????

You can get away with all kinds of illegal stuff on Bourbon St. Just don’t pee in public, because for THAT you will end up in jail real quick.

Definitely a True Story - I was one of the extra’s that went to talk to John Cusack as The Producers directed. I’m writing a book and this particular incident is in it. The book is due to be released in summer 2008. The title is still in the works.
