A meme. I was tagged by Christine over at The Bean Blog and now I have to give it up. More personal information that you may or may not care about. So here goes;
Wedding bliss.
- Where did Julia and I meet: An English Pub in Cupertino California.
- We have know each other for over 10 years.
- We started dating 3 years or so after we met. I was ordered by Julia to start dating her. I obliged of course. That is just how I run.
- How long did we date before we were engaged? If you ask Julia, too long. If you ask me, just long enough for her not to give up on me. I’d say about 2 or 3 years.
- Our engagement was about 14 months long.
- We have been married for almost 6 years.
- Our Anniversary is April 6th.
- We had about 105 people come to the wedding. We both agree that if we had it to do all over, we would have had a very small wedding and one hell of a party for our friends later. After the honeymoon we never went on. And still haven’t. Oh but we will some day and it will last for the rest of our lives.
- We had 3 different cakes. Actually one cake with three different levels. All different flavors. Chocolate, Banana, and I think Lemon. Maybe Lemon Poppyseed. I can’t remember.
- We got married in Santa Cruz, California overlooking the ocean.
- I have no idea what we had for our meal because we didn’t really get a chance to eat. We walked around and thanked people and took pictures and then we shoved some booze down our throats and smiled a lot. Dinner, I think it was Irish Whiskey for me and Champagne for Julia.
- We had 3 people in our bridal party on each side.
- Are we still friends with our bridal party? We are still friends with all of them because they were mostly family and my best friend and my wifes best friend.
- Did I cry? We both cried. Me less than her but hey, I cried when I saw her all made up nice.
- Best part of the wedding was when we got to go to the hotel afterwards and just be together without everyone else.
- Any funny moments? Let me think? Not that I can think of. Just surreal.
- Any wedding disasters? The only very small disaster was that my mom forgot the thingy that goes around Julia’s leg. No big deal though.
- Where was our honeymoon? Again, no honeymoon. Julia’s family is from Germany, so we took my mother-in-law and Julia’s niece to Disneyland. Yes, I said Disneyland with my new mother-in-law. That was as close to a honeymoon as we have had so far.
- How long was our Honeymoon? We were in Disneyland for 4 days.
- If I had the wedding to do over? See item #8 and oh, the Honeymoon would be immediately and for a month.
- What side of the bed do I sleep on? I sleep on the left side as you face the bed from the foot of the bed. Hey, these questions never stop.
- What size is our bed? California King. We do live in California people.
- What makes us a great couple? We are truly partners in everything we do.
- Greatest challenge as a couple? See item #23.
- I do, but Julia can do it too. Just in case something happens to me.
- What is our song? We don’t have one because we have different tastes in music. But ” At Last” was played as our first dance song at our wedding. And every other persons wedding I have ever been to as well.
- Our first song we danced to? See item #26.
- Describe my wedding dress? I didn’t wear one. I’m a guy. Though that might have been funny.
- The flowers we had at our wedding were champagne colored tulips.
- Are our wedding bands engraved? Yes. Mine says “Julia” and our wedding date. Guess what hers says?
Whew, I’m done. And I think I’ll kill this meme from my end. I know my blog friends will thank me.

We had three layers of different flavors too! Chocolate with raspberry, white with strawberry mousse, and carrot cake. We figured the carrot cake on the top layer would freeze better than regular cake. Who the hell ate that a year later? One of my bridesmaids sent the top to us, but since it was delivered in Louisiana and sat outside in the heat for a bit it was covered in ants by the time my husband and I got home from work. We chose not to eat the cake and interpreted the plethora of ants as a fertility sign.
