Becky tagged me on the book meme and now I am obligated to show you how literate or illeterate I truly am.
- A book that changed my life: Wow, hmm, I really had to think about this one. This may sound like I am such a girly boy, but I have to say “The complete works of Emily Dickinson”. When I read this as a high school student, and again as a college student, I was blown away by her poetry. It was deep, moving, and strange. And after I read her biography, it gave me a whole new understanding of her work. Simply outstanding and worth your time.
- One Book I read more than once: Bram Stoker’s Dracula or Dracula by Bram Stoker. I LOVE this book. I have read this more than once and I would read it again. This book is erotic, sensual, scary, fun and hard to read. The Victorian language takes some getting used to, but boy is it good. Note: Bram Stoker called his own book garbage and profane and later wished it had never been published.
- One book I would want on a deserted island: I can think of music I would want but a book…..I guess I would need “Survive on a desert Island” by Claire Llewellyn. I am clever, aren’t I?
- One book that made me laugh: Calvin and Hobbs. When I was a kid, these books cracked me up. Hey, you didn’t put an age restriction on this list, did you? Okay, I admit it, I would probably still laugh at these books today.
- One book that made me cry: My wife says I don’t cry. But I almost cried when I had to read some of the baby books that prepared me for “Fatherhood” especially the part about how much it costs to raise those little buggers over 18 years or so.
- One book I’d wish I’d written: It’s a toss up between the Bible and The DaVinci Code. Just think of the royalties. Blasphemy I know, but hey, it’s my list.
- One book I wish had never been written: All of my wifes school books she tried to get me involved in. She was taking a new age yada yada class. Good for her, bad for me.
- One book I’m reading now: Loosing my Virginity by Sir Richard Branson. He is one of my business heroes and I find this book fascinating. He has built the Virgin empire without ever sitting behind a desk.
- One book I have been meaning to read: There is not one. I would love to read Charles Dickins books. I love his stories but have never actually read any of them as he wrote them. Just seen the movies.
- Tag, your it: Indigo girl, The Bean Blog, 20 little toes, Crazy Life…, Cape Buffalo
