Creating little addicts.

My wife has been on a crazed muffin making binge lately. I come home at lunch and she has the whole kitchen deconstructed. Flour, bowls, muffins and utensils everywhere. Did you see the Grey’s Anatomy episode a week or so ago when Issy (Spelling?) made a million muffins? That is our house right now.

Lest you think she is making these for me, or the neighbors, or family, you would be wrong. She is making pumpkin muffins for the girls. Lately they haven’t been eating all that well and with more teeth coming in, she feeds them whatever she can to give them some form of nutrition.

So, back to the muffins, they are Pumpkin and each batch is a little different. Some with tiny chocolate chips, some with raisins (My favorite) and lately, some with tiny strips of carrots.

Since we have enough muffins to feed the neighbors, family, and anyone else who might stop by, I was suprised to find that when I got home last night, there were NO muffins left. Oh wait, let me back up, these muffins are those little tiny muffins about the size of a silver dollar. So back to the story, NO muffins left.

Me: “Honey, where are all the muffins you made?”

Her: ” YOUR children ate them”

Me: “ALL of them?”

Her: “Yes, you are not home with these monsters all day”

Me: “Okay, just asking”

Her: “No really, you are not home with these monsters all day. When you are home with them, you can eat the muffins after you bake them”

Me: “Okay. Sorry I asked”  Now I knew this would not be the end of the conversation.

Her: “And bye the way, I really don’t need to eat any more of these. I am trying to loose weight.”

Me:

Her: “Did you hear me?”

Me:

Her: “And besides, I have created little muffin addicts that are now even worse nightmares because they are on muffin witrhdrawals and there qre no more muffins.”

Me: THINKING TO MYSELF ” I would have enjoyed them”

  1. Sounds like your wife needs a night out on the town where they serve wine instead of muffins. ;)

And I totally thought about Izzy when I started reading your post.
