What could you do with $800?

I just read that this is the amount per person in the US that the Iraq war has cost SO FAR!
I could put that money in a savings account towards my kids education and in 18 years it would be worth $1900 or if I added $800/year it would be worth $25,000 in 18 years.
What could you do with the $800?
